Life Update

I am back in Southern Ontario. Yes, Canada has me back yet again. Can I not escape this overcast hellhole!? Just kidding, its not thaaattt bad…it was sunny for, like, three days. I’ve been back for two and a half weeks and it already feels like a lifetime. My parents and I drove back from Florida on Easter long weekend. We did it in two days…well my mom and I drove it in two days while my dad curled up in the back seat. As I said in my previous post my dad’s health isn’t great, he has lost his eyesight so of course he couldn’t drive. We are praying this is a temporary thing and he will be back to his regularly scheduled golf game by the end of the summer.

We drove through eight states; Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. It was relatively easy. There wasn’t too much traffic on the road and only about twenty minutes of rain through West Virginia. We stayed over night in Blythwood, South Carolina and ate terrible Mexican food. Not a great idea when your stuck in a car, who needs to stop gas when you’re full of it? Anyhoooo, the drive was educational for my parents who were never into podcasts, now they are hooked. We listened to some gnarly true crime pods and balanced it out with some of Theo Von’s ‘This Past Weekend’.

The reason we left during the Easter long weekend was because Niagara Falls would experience a total solar eclipse the following weekend and there were plenty of warnings against being on the road during that time. I was eager to get home and experience the solar eclipse right outside my door. My plan was to roll out my yoga mat, listen to a meditation, and vibe. I didn’t. My bestie and her family were going to be in town and invited me to their eclipse party, it was literally a ten minute walk away from my parents place so it was perfect. We set up a picnic with tables and chairs. There was so much good food! I love fooooodddd. It was a great time.

Of course Southern Onterrible was cloudy and grey. We had the sunniest more beautiful day the day before too, so freaking rude. We remained positive because honestly, having limited viewing of the sun was almost more exciting. Every time the clouds dispersed there was a more sun coverage, so every ten minutes or so we would see it, it was thrilling. It forced us to continue looking up cuz if we didn’t we would miss a few seconds of magic. The birds started freaking out. They were all like, ‘chirp chirp chirp, wtf is happening’ and when the totality immersed itself upon us everything went eerily quiet…except for my friend’s family. Why are you talking right now?? We yelled at them to stfu and for about 3minutes we were in the silent totality of it all. It was epic. I got a time lapse of the experience and I shared it on instagram, here.

The next day I went back to work. I haven’t tattooed in nearly four months. Time to get back to it. As much as I loved ‘being off’ I still tattooed on the road. I still worked on my book and many other creative endeavours. I love working. I love having a purpose, I love being inspired. I will never not work and I am totally okay with that. Getting back into the swing of things was easy peasy and I am back Tell Tale Heart for the summer, this is the shop I worked at from 2020-2023, I am back with my homies Mike and Evan. Not only that but my other artist homie Elless is joining the squad and I couldn’t be happier! I am surrounded by some of my favourite people. Cue the Blink 182, it’s time to rock! The first week back was an absolute banger of fun tattoos. I am so looking forward to this summer of creation.

Like I said, I am back in the GTA (greater Toronto area) and I am living in the ‘burbs. Living that slow life but only for the summer. I managed to find a comfortable furnished sublet for the next four months and I am eager to see how that unfolds. I am happy I don’t have to deal with a big move again. The room is bright and sunny and spacious, an upgrade from my Toronto apartment that had limited light. I am really looking forward to this little suburban chapter of my year. I am so close to a gym that I could walk it. I have my favourite grocery store near by and all my friends are living out this way. I am closer to the majority of my friends in the ‘burbs than I am in the city, I guess this is just the age we are in? It feels like home. It feels right.

Again, this wasn’t apart of my travel plans. I was going to go back to Dubai and then Thailand but as I have said in my previous posts, fuck plans. Who knows what’s going to happen in the future. Plans don’t mean shit. You gotta know when to pivot and how to move with the ebbs and flows of life. I am looking forward to not traveling (say what!?) and focusing on my fitness goals. I am looking forward to staying still and working on my craft. I am looking forward to living a simple life over the summer and enjoying the hawt hot heat.

So friends, as you read this if you are inclined to get a tattoo please email me! I am really excited to get back into work and create something awesome for you.
